Aluminum boride

AlB2 (or AlB2) is a binary compound that’s made up of aluminum and boren. The material is reddish-brown at normal temperature and pressure. Heating causes the material to lose its gloss. Cold dilute acid is the best solution. But, the acid will cause it to decompose in either hot hydrochloric (or nitric). Reacting with aluminum/boron powders by heating them.

Hot nitric Acid can help to decompose the material. You can make this by melting sulfur and aluminum trioxide together. AlB2 is a unique crystal with a hexagonal matrix.

Reacting aluminum boride to acid or hydrogen with oxygen can result in dangerous gases. For example, aluminum boride can react with hydrochloric Acid in order to produce borane or aluminum chloride.

AlB2 is an alluminium diboride. It has a structure very similar to graphite flaflakes. It can be found in the vicinity of the B-atom or the B-atom. Magnesium diboride is very close to this structure. AlB 2 single crystal exhibits metal conductivity that is parallel to the hexagonal pattern of the substrate.

This crystal structure serves as a reference for prototype structures of intermetallic materials. The AlB2 family contains many structures.
