Why Zirconium Carbide ZrC is so valuable?
Hafnium free Zirconium Carbonide, and Niobium Caride can fire resistant coatings to high-fire-resistance nuclear reactors. It is compatible with nuclear fuel and radioactive U2O particles due to its weak neutron absorption. This coating can usually be obtained by the thermal chemical vapor deposition (TCVD) of the coating in fluidized reactors. This material is ideal for thermal solar radiation, field emitter arrays and tips due to its high emissivity.
It can also be used for making incandescent and abrasive filaments. You can also use it to make cermets.
