How does aluminum powder get made?
1. Melt extrusion method
This involves heating and extruding the other components (resin, for example) Use a screw extruder to mix the metallic pigment with powder coating. While metallic pigments as well as powder coatings are possible to be combined, it’s not feasible to choose metallic pigments that melt in high viscosity. You can also see the metallic effects of this metal powder during construction. This is why this process can be only used for producing hammer dust.
2. Dry blending
You add dry powdered metal pigments to the pulverized coating. Then, you mix the mixture with a machine mixer. The dry blending technique has the advantage that it does not involve intense mixing. It prevents deformation of flake metallic pigments. Additionally, loose pigment/resin blends are very conducive for metallic pigments. This also improves glitter effects. However, this technique can lead to separation of metal pigments and resin particles when they are processed with automatic spray equipment.

The metal pigment and the powder coating can be dry-mixed together and then heated simultaneously to just reach the hardening point. The metal pigment can then be attached to the surface or powder of the adhesive resin. This will prevent it from being made.
